About Me
My Name is Haylen Washington, Founder/CEO of Diamond in The Rough Scouting LLC. I’m currently a Professional Basketball player Overseas in South America and an Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach at The College Of Coastal Georgia. I grew up in Pensacola, Florida and Attended Milton High school where I lettered on the Varsity basketball team only 2 years. As a junior I played sparingly having only a few shining moments. As a senior I became the areas leading scorer, first team all-area, and first team all-state for 6A. Still Not receiving any offers, I went to multiple poorly ran showcases where directors allowed the players to play bad basketball and the games looked like 1 on 1 every possession. After months of showcases, thousands of dollars spent, and hundreds of emails I finally received a call from a small college. To make a long story short I became a 2X All-American(Juco & NAIA), 3X All-Conference player, and Professional. My goal here at Diamond in The Rough Scouting is to find more great players who have been overlooked just as I was and place them on a college campus that fits them.
Diamond in The Rough Scouting Services
Combines
All Diamond in The Rough Scouting combines are directed by Current and Former College basketball coaches. Attendees will be put through a series of skills and drills, followed by a full practice with these coaches who will be evaluating each player. They will then break into teams and play 3 guaranteed games with the chance to play in the Top 20 game to conclude the combine. Attendees will receive video exposure, In-person exposure, a review of your game graded by college scouts, Social media exposure, 3 guaranteed games, combine MVP, and a chance to make the top 20 game.
Academic Workshops
At all events Student-Athletes and their parents will be provided with valuable information regarding Academic Success while in College. This includes Time Management, what classes to take, choosing a major, and how to properly use all of the resources around you.
